Al-Makura Critiques Sule's Early Successor Announcement

Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa State, publicly criticized the current governor, Abdullahi Sule, for his recent announcement regarding a preferred successor, labeling it a premature move that undermines the due process within the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a press briefing in Lafia on Saturday, Al-Makura stated that the APC has not yet commenced the sale of nomination forms, and such disclosures amount to jumping the gun before the formal electoral process begins.

He urged politicians to exercise caution to avoid actions that could violate electoral guidelines ahead of the APC primaries. Al-Makura emphasized that the eventual candidates must emerge from a transparent and credible primary process.

He also advised party leaders to emulate the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is anchored in the rule of law and respect for internal democracy. Additionally, former Inspector General of Police, Ahmadu Abubakar, rejected the endorsement of Senator Ahm Aliyu Wadada as a preferred successor, describing it as an attempt to impose a candidate ahead of the APC primaries.
