APC Waives Screening for President Tinubu in 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has decided to waive the screening requirement for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, enabling him to participate in the upcoming presidential primary elections without the need to appear before the screening committee. This decision was made during the 188th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Wednesday.

The NWC deemed it necessary to grant this waiver in line with the APC constitution, which allows for such exceptions under special circumstances that serve the best interest of the party. The statement, signed by the APC National Public Secretary, noted that President Tinubu received overwhelming endorsements from major stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) leadership and members of the National Assembly.

The meeting also referenced the statutory events leading up to the party's national summit scheduled for May 22, 2025, and acknowledged that the incumbent president had already been screened ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries.
