Shittu: Tinubu's Campaign Council Membership Not an Achievement

Adebayo Shittu, the former Minister of Communications and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), remarked that being a member of President Bola Tinubu's 223-member presidential campaign council for the 2027 election is not an achievement. In an interview with Punch, Shittu expressed no regrets about his exclusion from the current campaign council, despite having served as the Director-General of the Asiwaju Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organisation during the 2023 election.

He highlighted his extensive efforts during the 2023 campaign, including mobilizing 1,141 support groups and conducting advocacy across more than 50 media platforms. Shittu noted that he has not had a one-on-one meeting with President Tinubu since he took office in 2023 and expressed concern for the campaign coordinators and foot soldiers who worked with him and have not received government appointments despite his recommendations.
