Dickson Calls for Peaceful Campaigning Ahead of 2027 Elections

Senator Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to de-escalate political tensions as the 2027 general elections approach. During a visit from Leadership Newspaper's management, led by Vice Chairman Michael Okpere, Dickson stressed the need for a peaceful environment for political parties to campaign.

He urged political actors to allow Nigerians to express their political choices freely, warning against intimidation and violence. Dickson reaffirmed the NDC's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's multiparty democracy and announced plans to engage security agencies to ensure safety during their nationwide campaign activities.

He expressed gratitude for being named Politician of the Year 2026 by Leadership Newspaper, emphasizing that the honor belonged to the NDC leadership and supporters. Dickson highlighted the importance of political differences not leading to violence or the restriction of democratic rights.
