Handshake Movement Warns Atiku, Obi on Party Rules

The Handshake Movement, a political advocacy group, has issued a warning to prominent political figures Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi regarding their pursuit of the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The group emphasized the importance of adhering to party rules and democratic procedures during the race for the party's ticket.

In a statement released from its national secretariat by Chinedu Okpalanma, the group urged the presidential hopefuls to conduct themselves responsibly and remain committed to the party's internal democratic processes. The Handshake Movement highlighted that unity among aspirants is crucial for strengthening the party's position in Nigeria's political landscape.

They warned that political competition driven solely by personal interests could weaken the ADC and damage public confidence in the party. The group also noted the current frustrations among Nigerians due to economic conditions, insecurity, and declining trust in government institutions, urging aspirants to demonstrate patriotism and a strong sense of national responsibility.
