Handshake Movement Calls for Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Handshake Movement has called for a unification of prominent political figures Atiku, Obi, and Ameachi within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a response to the increasing economic hardship, insecurity, and unemployment faced by millions of Nigerians. In a statement released by the group's national secretary, Chinedu Okpalanma, it was emphasized that citizens feel excluded from governance and are concerned about the uncertain future of the country.

The movement argues that historical patterns show democracy can gradually weaken and that a united opposition is essential to provide a credible alternative. They advocate for a democratic process within the ADC to strengthen the party, build public confidence, and produce candidates who can command broad support.

The Handshake Movement aims to engage presidential aspirants to promote dialogue and explore strategies for building a democratic coalition capable of winning the confidence of the Nigerian people ahead of the 2027 elections.
