Onoh Urges Wike to Join APC or Withdraw from Politics

Denge Josef Onoh, the former south-east spokesman to President Bola Tinubu and chair of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu, has called on Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to either formally register as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or step aside from the party's internal affairs in light of the upcoming 2027 elections. Onoh described Wike's political grouping, known as the 'Rainbow Coalition', as a calculated threat to the APC.

He dismissed comparisons between Wike's coalition and the G5 governors' alliance from the 2023 elections, asserting that the current coalition lacks the necessary state-level political structures. Onoh criticized Wike's influence as largely localized and warned that strategies encouraging voters to support opposition candidates could undermine the APC's legislative majority.

He emphasized that there is currently no credible opposition in Nigeria, attributing this to internal divisions within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which has left the political landscape without a clear challenger to President Tinubu.
