Group Urges Christian Candidate for Kwara APC Governorship

The Conglomerate of Kwara State Christian Community has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider a Christian candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kwara State. This appeal was made during a meeting in Ilorin on Monday, where the group emphasized the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and equity in the state's political arrangements.

They clarified that their demand is not a call for religious politics but rather a request for balanced representation that prioritizes competence. The group referenced a survey by the Africa Poll Institute, indicating that 90% of Muslim respondents would support a competent Christian candidate, while 98% of Christian respondents would support a competent Muslim candidate.

Furthermore, 93% expressed willingness to support a good candidate regardless of religious background. The group underscored the importance of leadership quality over religious identity and called for the APC to promote inclusivity among different segments of the state.
