Wike Claims Control Over Rivers State, FCT for Tinubu

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), declared his authority over the political landscape of Rivers State and the FCT, stating that he owes this influence to President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming elections. Wike made these remarks on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt.

He responded to inquiries regarding whether the current Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has control over the state's political structure. Wike asserted that one does not need to be the governor to wield political influence, claiming, “You do not need to be governor before you can be in charge.

I am the General Commander of the Political Infantry; therefore, I am in charge.” He further stated that he considers the FCT as a state in the context of the elections and emphasized his commitment to supporting Tinubu.
