Labour Party Rejects Zoning for Oyo Governorship Candidate

The Labour Party has announced that it will not implement zoning in the selection of its governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Oyo State. Mr.

Fatai Ojetund, the party's state secretary, stated that the primary criteria for selecting the party's flagbearer will be the candidate's competence and ability to deliver quality governance, rather than their geographical origin within the state. Ojetund clarified that any indigenous aspirant from Oyo State is eligible to seek the governorship under the Labour Party platform.

He also commented on the proposed shift of the 2027 general elections to January, indicating that the party is fully prepared for a potential victory regardless of the election date. Additionally, the Labour Party will focus on grassroots engagement and voter education as key strategies leading up to the elections, with Mr.

Sadiq Atayes, the state chairman, emphasizing the importance of informed voting decisions.
