Group Advocates Zoning for Oyo 2027 Governorship Election

A group has publicly backed the concept of zoning for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, emphasizing the need for a candidate from outside Ibadan. This position was articulated during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday by representatives Oladipo Musibau and Olaniran Aberuagba.

They argued that zoning is not merely a political sentiment but a strategic necessity given the electoral arithmetic in the state. The group highlighted that Oyo State remains a critical political battleground, especially after nearly eight years of control by the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

They believe that a candidate from the Ok Ogun zone would invigorate the All Progressives Congress (APC) base and send a powerful message of fair representation across the state. The group respectfully called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to guide the zoning process to ensure long-term stability and electoral success for the APC in Oyo State.
