Seyi Makinde Promises Nigeria Reset in Four Years if Elected

Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), announced his plan to reset Nigeria within four years if elected president in 2027. Speaking at the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, he outlined a comprehensive approach to reforming security, education, and the economy, emphasizing a new security architecture and an economy driven by data and science.

Makinde expressed confidence that significant changes could be achieved in four years, referencing historical precedents in Nigeria's governance. He also criticized the Federal Government's handling of insecurity in the North-Central region, questioning the budgetary provisions for new army divisions established in 2026.

Makinde highlighted the need for effective planning and funding to address insecurity and questioned whether increased allocations to state governments had improved living conditions for Nigerians. He noted that while Oyo State had reduced its reliance on federal allocations since he took office in 2019, dependence had increased again.
