Oyo Defender Demands Integrity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Oyo Defender, a political pressure group, has voiced its concerns regarding emerging political maneuvers aimed at promoting the candidacy of a former commissioner from the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election. In a statement signed by its secretary, Adedosu Ifaponle, the group emphasized the need for credible and transparent leadership at a time when the people of Oyo State are demanding integrity.

The statement highlighted serious public allegations of financial impropriety involving an alleged ₦30 billion financial matter, which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has acknowledged. Oyo Defender stressed that such weighty allegations cannot be ignored and called for clear and transparent resolutions from leadership, especially at the gubernatorial level.

The group urged political parties, civil society organizations, and the general public to reject candidates with questionable credibility, asserting that the 2027 election should not be reduced to political manipulation but should restore integrity and trust in governance.
