Adebayo Promises ₦200 Petrol Price as SDP Presidential Candidate

Adewole Adebayo, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), announced during an interview in Abuja that he would reduce the prices of petrol, cooking gas, and aviation fuel to ₦200 per litre if elected president. Adebayo stated that his administration would target achieving these prices within 12 months by restoring Nigeria's refineries and supporting the establishment of modular refineries.

He emphasized that Nigeria possesses sufficient crude oil and refining facilities to meet a significant portion of its domestic fuel needs, advocating for better utilization of these resources rather than relying on imported refined petroleum products. Adebayo outlined a broader economic strategy, stating that transportation costs should not exceed six percent of an individual's salary, housing costs should be capped at seven percent, and that education and healthcare should be free.

He also committed to focusing on agriculture to ensure food security and affordability.
