APC Member Calls for Disqualification of Primary Opponent

Kolawole Akinlayo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti North, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enforce the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and disqualify Kunle Ibrahim from participating in the party's primaries. Akinlayo criticized the outcome of the recent primary held on May 16, asserting that Ibrahim was not qualified to participate due to his status as a political appointee, which violates Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act 2026.

He disclosed that he has already petitioned the APC's national chairman and the National Assembly Appeal Committee to challenge the primary's outcome. Akinlayo emphasized the need for the party to adhere to the Electoral Act to preserve its internal democratic processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He argued that Ibrahim's participation in the primaries was invalid and cited widespread irregularities during the election process, including voter suppression and inflated votes.
