Reps Minority Caucus Calls for Opposition Unity Ahead of 2027

On Tuesday, the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives urged opposition political parties, leaders, and presidential aspirants to unite in order to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. This call was made during a closed-door meeting in Abuja with representatives of G-100, a group advocating for a coordinated opposition.

Frederick Agbedi, the Minority Leader from Bayelsa representing the People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that both the caucus and G-100 agreed to enhance their collaboration to mobilize opposition forces. Agbedi highlighted the hardships faced by Nigerians, asserting that opposition members should prioritize national interests over personal ambitions.

He emphasized that unity among opposition parties is essential to provide a credible alternative to the APC and President Bola Tinubu. The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to build a coalition capable of challenging the ruling party, with G-100 advocating for a single opposition candidate to enhance democratic accountability.
