APC Open to Contestants for Tinubu's 2027 Ticket

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that it will not restrict any member from contesting for Bola Tinubu's presidential ticket in the 2027 elections, despite the party's endorsement of Tinubu for a second term. Chidi Duru, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of APC, stated that the party leans towards a consensus but remains open to aspirants who wish to test their popularity.

He noted that while incumbents typically enjoy advantages in seeking re-election, the party must ensure candidates align with its ideology and manifesto. Duru emphasized the principle of "right of first refusal" for incumbents, which could lead to internal discontent if not managed properly.

He also mentioned that the APC's national convention is scheduled for March 27-28, 2026, to reaffirm its existing zoning arrangements and maintain internal balance. The party aims to preserve stability and accountability as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
