Proposal for Single Candidate Against Tinubu in 2027

Salihu Lukman, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced a proposal aimed at uniting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Peter Obi, to consider a single candidate for the 2027 elections against President Bola Tinubu. In an interview with Arise News, Lukman stated that opposition parties must recognize their primary opponent is the APC and not each other.

He stressed the necessity for Atiku and Obi to collaborate and form a cohesive unit to present a united front to the Nigerian electorate. Lukman articulated that the ultimate goal is to have one candidate, which requires mutual agreement on selection criteria.

He urged both candidates to focus on winning the election rather than merely being candidates, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve a credible option in the upcoming election.
