Lawal Daura Defects to APM Ahead of 2027 Elections

Lawal Daura, the former Director General of the Department of State Security Services (DSS), has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). He announced this decision at a rally attended by his supporters in Katsina State.

Daura clarified that rumors suggesting he left ADC due to not receiving the gubernatorial ticket were unfounded, stating he had actually departed the party several months prior. He emphasized that his political involvement is motivated by a desire to help Nigeria overcome insecurity, poor leadership, and economic difficulties.

Daura described the APM as a winning party and called for support in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The Director-General of the Daura Campaign Organisation, Ali Sani, praised the turnout at the rally as a sign of Daura's popularity.

Nura Abdullahi, the Katsina State Chairman of the APM, welcomed Daura and assured fair treatment for him and other defectors. There are indications that Daura may be considered as a running mate for the APM presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.
