Ebonyi Government Defends Nwifuru Against PDP Claims

The Ebonyi State government has issued a statement clarifying that Governor Francis Nwifuru did not threaten Minister Nyesom Wike during an endorsement rally for Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate for the 2027 general elections, held on June 15, 2026, at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki. Ikeuwa Omebeh, a representative of the state government, emphasized that the PDP's attempts to create disaffection between Wike and Nwifuru are unfounded and aimed at scoring political points.

The statement also warned against spreading fake news and propaganda that could incite conflict. The government reaffirmed its support for Nwifuru's administration and urged the PDP to address its internal crises rather than attempting to undermine the governor.

The Ebonyi State government maintains that there is mutual respect between Nwifuru and Wike, and any claims to the contrary are distortions by factions within the PDP.
