YPP Calls for Voter Registration Extension Ahead of 2027

The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has expressed concerns regarding the potential exclusion of eligible Nigerians from the 2027 general elections due to the closure of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The party's Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chairman, Hon. Abraham Simon Adedotun, along with the party’s FCT senatorial candidate, Blessing Ufedojo Benyeogor, made a joint appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the weekend.

They urged INEC to reconsider the closure of the registration process and provide another opportunity for eligible citizens to register. In their statement issued to journalists in Abuja, Adedotun and Benyeogor highlighted that many Nigerians, particularly young people, could be disenfranchised if the CVR is not extended, as they have not yet completed their registration.
