Mechanic Jailed for 3 Years for Stealing Yams Worth N35,000

A 28-year-old mechanic, Akeem Jimoh, has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for stealing yams worth N35,000 in Osogbo. Jimoh admitted to stealing 17 tubers of yam due to hunger and pleaded guilty in court.

The Chief Magistrate's Court handed down the sentence of hard labor without the option of a fine. The prosecutor, Babatunde Olukokun, highlighted Jimoh's confession and previous criminal record.
