Three Killed in Katsina Late-Night Community Attacks

In late-night attacks on communities in Katsina, three people were killed, and four others sustained gunshot injuries, requiring treatment at a nearby hospital. The affected areas included Gobirawa, Badol, and Yammama, where gunmen invaded homes and opened sporadic fire, causing panic among residents.

Abdul Aziz, a local resident, described the incident as a disturbing breach of security, highlighting that the region had recently enjoyed peace after months of calm. Despite the danger, residents mobilized to resist the attackers, demonstrating courage in confronting them.

The Katsina State Police Command deployed patrol teams alongside local vigilantes to help repel the attacks and prevent further casualties. Community members expressed appreciation for the government's prompt response and the police's presence, which helped restore calm.

However, they warned that renewed attacks could disrupt farming activities during the rainy season, worsening hunger and poverty. The community is also appealing for blood donations for the injured victims.

Attempts to obtain an official confirmation from the Katsina State Police Command were unsuccessful.
