Gunmen Kill Three at Plateau Mining Site in Attack

On Tuesday at approximately 11:50 AM, gunmen attacked a mining site in Plateau, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The incident caused widespread panic, prompting miners and residents to flee in confusion.

The Berom Youth Moulder Association, represented by Rwang Tengwong, condemned the attack and expressed concern over the recurring insecurity in the Gyel community. The group highlighted that this was not the first violent incident in the area, noting that residents of Gyel and neighboring Bassa Local Government Area have repeatedly raised concerns about insecurity allegedly perpetrated by armed elements operating around Gyero and Rafin Bauna.

The association called on security agencies and government authorities to urgently dismantle criminal hideouts and take decisive action to end the cycle of violence threatening peace in the community. The chairman of the Miyetti Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria denied allegations of involvement in the attack.

State police spokesperson Alabo Alfr did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of reporting.
