Nigerian Army Rescues 31 Abductees in Zamfara Operation

On Friday, the Nigerian Army, under the command of Lt. Col.

Olaniyi Osoba, announced the successful rescue of 31 kidnap victims during Operation Fansan Yamma in Zamfara State. The operation, which took place around Bagega in the Anka Local Government Area, involved precise air interdiction followed by ground assaults on terrorist enclaves located in the west Bagega forest.

The victims had been held captive for several weeks across various local government areas, including Maga, Gummi, Zuru, Wasugu, Bukuyyum, and Anka. Following their rescue, the victims received medical attention and were set to be reunited with their families.

Additionally, the military reported the neutralization of five terrorists and the destruction of several camps. In a separate operation in Katsina State, troops intercepted suspected terrorists, resulting in the death of three individuals during a firefight.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements in the northwest region.
