Three Soldiers Killed in Zamfara State Military Operations

During military operations conducted from June 18 to June 22, 2023, in Zamfara State, three soldiers from the Troop Sector 2 Joint Task Force were killed while engaging terrorist groups. The operations, part of an ongoing offensive against banditry in Northwest Nigeria, included the successful rescue of abducted civilians and the recovery of stolen livestock and weapons.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja reported that troops thwarted an attempt by armed terrorists to infiltrate Tureta town in Sokoto State, leading to a pursuit and ambush of fleeing terrorists. The operations resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles and the rescue of two women and a child kidnapped in the Kerawa area of Igabi Local Government Area.

Additionally, troops raided a terrorist enclave in Matazu Local Government Area, killing two terrorists and recovering various weapons. The military continues to respond to intelligence reports to mitigate terrorist threats in the region.
