38,680 Residents Enroll in Cross River Health Insurance

Dr. Godwin Iyala, the Director General of the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency, announced that 38,680 residents across 18 local government areas have enrolled in the state's health insurance scheme, which has a target of 150,000 enrollees for the year.

This update was provided during a performance review of the agency's activities over the past year. The enrollment follows the migration to the Health Insurance Agency's Basic Health Care Provision Fund, which has made it compulsory for every enrollee to possess a National Identification Number (NIN) to facilitate tracking within the Nigerian scheme.

Dr. Iyala also mentioned the implementation of digital processes to ensure easier access to effective healthcare services for enrollees, which has improved efficiency and transparency.

He attributed these achievements to the support of Governor Bassey Otu and his wife, as well as Bishop Eyoanwan, who serves as the brand ambassador for the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency. Iyala expressed gratitude for the significant support that helped enroll 500 individuals into the scheme.
