Nearly 10,000 Applicants for Cross River Police Recruitment

A total of 9,975 applicants attended the police recruitment exercise in Cross River, Nigeria, with only 65 successful applicants from 18 local government areas. The recruitment aims to select 1,170 successful candidates for the Nigeria Police Force for the 2025-2026 exercise.

Speaking on Monday, during the address to applicants at the Police Officers Mess on Moor Road, Calabar, Commissioner Rashid B. Afegbua cautioned against any form of bribery or fraudulent promises related to the recruitment process.

The exercise is set to commence on March 9, 2026, and will be conducted transparently, based solely on qualifications and merit. Aspiring candidates were advised to remain vigilant and report any individuals or groups demanding money in connection with the recruitment process to the Police Complaint Response Unit.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Victor Bekep, leading the screening team, assured that the process would be strictly merit-based and urged applicants to conduct themselves in an orderly and disciplined manner throughout the exercise.
