Emergency Responders Manage Petrol Tanker Spill in Epe

On Thursday, a tanker loaded with 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit overturned at Isimi, Epe, Lagos State, spilling its contents onto the roadway. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), led by Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported no loss of life or injuries.

The incident occurred when the tanker, with registration number T-18212LA, collided with a stationary Ford pickup van, marked KJA-13FJ, which had developed a mechanical fault. LASEMA received a distress call at 10:19 am and activated its LRT Beta Whales Team.

The agency coordinated with multiple organizations, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Nigeria Police Force, to secure the area and implement traffic control. The fire service used chemical foam to mitigate fire risks, and the remaining fuel was successfully transferred to an empty tanker.

Both vehicles were removed from the roadway, which has since reopened for traffic. Oke-Osanyintolu praised the emergency responders for their swift and professional actions.
