Five Arrested for Counterfeit Herbal Medicine in Kano

The Kano Police arrested five suspects—Muhammad Usman, Husaini Kabir, Hassan Kabir, Suleiman Salihu, and Nura Garba—over allegations of impersonation, production, sale, and distribution of counterfeit herbal medicines. The arrests followed a complaint from Abdulwahab Abubakar, the Chief Executive Officer of Abdulwahab Abubakar Herbal and Islamic Clinic in Bauchi, received on August 10, 2026.

Abubakar accused the suspects of using his name and business identity to market fake herbal products, collecting money from the public without delivering the medicines, and selling counterfeit mixtures that could pose health risks. The police confirmed that the suspects admitted to their involvement, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of their activities and identify additional individuals linked to the operation.

The police urged the public to exercise caution when purchasing herbal products, especially online, and to verify vendor identities and product authenticity.
