Man Arrested for Defiling Nine-Year-Old in Bauchi

On June 14, 2026, at approximately 5 PM, a 50-year-old man was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl who was hawking soya bean cake in Bulkachuwa, Katagum Local Government Area. The suspect, identified as Muhammadu Audu, reportedly lured the victim to an incomplete building under the pretext of buying her goods and then assaulted her, resulting in injuries to her private parts.

The incident was reported to the police on June 15, 2026, after the victim's father lodged a complaint. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted to threatening the victim with a knife to prevent her from disclosing the incident to her parents.

The survivor was immediately taken to a primary health care center in Bulkachuwa for medical examination and treatment. CSP Nafiu Habib, the spokesperson for the police command, stated that the suspect remains in custody and emphasized the command's commitment to thoroughly investigating the case and prosecuting the offender.
