Bauchi Police Arrest 70-Year-Old for Defiling Minor

On May 15, 2026, the Bauchi State Police Command arrested 70-year-old Hamza Yahaya for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in Magama Gumau Local Government Area. The girl's father, a 40-year-old resident of the area, reported the incident to the police.

According to the police public relations officer, Nafiu Habib, Yahaya lured the minor to a hideout where he engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her. Following the complaint, the police mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspect.

During interrogation, Yahaya denied the recent allegations but voluntarily confessed to having sexually assaulted the victim on three previous occasions. The victim was taken to a general hospital in Toro for medical examination and treatment.

The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution. Police Commissioner Sani Omolori Aliyu assured the public that the case would be pursued diligently to ensure justice and urged parents and community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may compromise the safety and welfare of children.
