Man Arrested for Defiling 8-Year-Old in Bauchi

Muhammad Makama, a 45-year-old man, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling his neighbor's eight-year-old daughter. The incident was reported on July 5, 2026, at approximately 12:11 PM, when the victim's 32-year-old mother lodged a complaint.

According to the police spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, the suspect lured the girl into his room before the alleged assault. Following the report, police operatives acted swiftly, taking the victim to a police clinic for medical examination and treatment.

The suspect was also taken for medical treatment due to injuries inflicted by angry community members. The case has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Sani Omolori Aliyu, the State Commissioner of Police, condemned the alleged offense and assured the public of justice.
