Nyesom Wike Enables Promotion Exams for FCTA Officers

Nearly 6,000 education officers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are participating in promotion examinations initiated by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The exams commenced on October 5 and have entered their sixth day, involving about 5,990 officers across Grade Levels 13 to 17.
This initiative allows education officers, senior education officers, and assistant education officers to seek advancement to higher grades, especially those who were previously excluded due to involvement in protests. Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, Head of the FCTA Civil Service, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and emphasized the importance of the exams for career progression.
She noted that vacancies at higher levels have decreased due to the harmonized retirement age for teachers, which has delayed retirements. Mr Emeka Ezeh, chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, praised the candidates for their enthusiasm and urged them to focus on merit-based promotions.
The participating officers will return to their schools after the examinations.
