70% of FCT Projects Abandoned for 16 Years, Wike Says

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced during a media chat on Thursday that 70% of projects awarded by the FCT Administration under previous administrations have been abandoned for 15 to 16 years. He criticized the practice of abandoning old projects while initiating new ones, asserting that the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focused on completing these inherited projects.

Wike stated that 60% of projects have been executed in the last three years, and he aims to ensure that at least 70% of the abandoned projects are completed. He attributed the pace of development in the nation’s capital to President Tinubu's support, particularly the decision to remove the Treasury Single Account (TSA), which has made funds more readily available for infrastructure development.

Wike's administration is committed to executing projects that will improve transportation and enhance the quality of life for residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
