70-Year-Old Widow Raped in Kaduna, Trial Begins for Accused

In Kaduna, a 70-year-old widow was allegedly raped in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. The accused, identified as Ayock, faced trial on two counts of rape, contrary to sections 257 and 237 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.

State Counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Daniel Isah, informed the court that the defendant forcefully had sexual intercourse with the widow on December 26, 2025. The defendant pleaded not guilty, and the case was adjourned to March 5 for the state to present its evidence.

Presiding Judge Michael Eugen ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Kafanchan Correctional Center until the next hearing.
