Over 3,000 Runners to Compete in Abeokuta 10KM Race

More than 3,000 runners have registered for the 2026 Abeokuta 10KM Race, scheduled for Saturday, October 3, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The event, organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited, will commence at 7am at Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, and conclude at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto.

This year's race is notable for its 100 percent indigenous status, allowing only Nigerian athletes to compete. Organizers anticipate that the race will stimulate economic activities in Abeokuta, benefiting small businesses along the route, including food vendors, transport operators, artisans, and hospitality providers.

The event is expected to attract sports administrators, athletes, sports enthusiasts, and dignitaries, combining athletics with tourism, culture, and local economic activity as it showcases the city’s landmarks and attractions.
