Safety Concerns Rise Over Abandoned Vehicles on Expressway

Motorists and residents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have raised serious safety concerns regarding a faulty truck and an abandoned piling rig obstructing the road. The vehicles are located around Gideon Bus Stop and the Kara-Ibafo section of the expressway.

A hydraulic piling rig has slipped off its lowbed trailer, leaning towards a ditch, with only a safety cone placed nearby as a warning. Additionally, a truck involved in a crash on August 24, which resulted in the deaths of at least seven people, remains abandoned at Kara-Ibafo.

Residents report that the vehicles have been in place for approximately three weeks, with concerns that they could lead to further accidents, especially at night. Motorists Adewale and Kunle Bankole emphasized the dangers posed by the obstructions, particularly for drivers unfamiliar with the area.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, did not respond to inquiries regarding the situation.
