Lagos Assembly Urges Release of Abducted NYSC Member as Kidnappers Demand N30m Ransom

The Lagos State House of Assembly has expressed concern over the abduction of Lateefah Binuyo, a prospective NYSC member, who was kidnapped on January 22, 2026, while traveling to Taraba State. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N30 million for her release.

Lawmakers, including Omolara Olumegbon and Noheem Adam, have called for urgent government intervention to secure Binuyo's immediate rescue. They have urged the federal government to strengthen security measures for NYSC members traveling to different states, emphasizing the need for collaboration with relevant authorities.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of young Nigerians pursuing education and national service, particularly in high-risk areas. Efforts are being made by the Lagos State government to liaise with Kogi State authorities for Binuyo's safe return.

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the abduction and ongoing efforts to secure Binuyo's release.
