Polytechnic Students Rescued After 7 Weeks in Captivity

After seven weeks in captivity, four male and one female polytechnic students were rescued by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State. The students were kidnapped from their off-campus hostel in the Low-cost area.

A security source confirmed that one kidnapper was arrested during the operation, while others did not survive. This rescue followed the earlier release of two of the six students.

Hon. Mannir Haidara Kaura, Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, had previously stated that security agencies were actively working to secure the students' return.

Ibrahim Ahmad, a student, noted that one student had escaped, leaving three male and three female students still held captive. The Concerned Citizens of Kaura Namoda expressed alarm over the worsening security situation attributed to notorious bandit leader Kachalla Bello Dansadiya.

The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the abduction and ongoing rescue efforts, detailing that the incident occurred when a student left the door open at night.
