NBC Resolves Ekiti-Kwara Boundary for Economic Growth

The National Boundary Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the boundary dispute between Ekiti and Kwara states, which spans 70 kilometers. This initiative aims to improve security, facilitate infrastructure development, and stimulate economic activities in the affected communities.

The statement was issued by Chinwe Udouwem, Head of Information, Press and Public Relations. During a Joint Meeting of Officials in Ado-Ekiti, Director-General Adamu Adaji described the meeting as a significant step towards addressing outstanding issues along the boundary.

The current boundary is based on Legal Notice No. 126 of 1954, inherited from the former Ondo/Kwara boundary. Adaji noted that the commission's intervention is crucial due to recurring communal clashes leading to loss of lives and property.

He mentioned unresolved sectors, including the Eda-Oniyo-Obbo/Aiyegunle and Erinmope-Imoji, Ilofa, Odo-Owa corridors. Although digitized boundary maps were sent to both states, the commission awaits their harmonized reports to proceed with the final demarcation.
