Abuja Students Awarded Grants for Food Security Research

On a recent occasion, twenty-five final year students from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Abuja were awarded research grants totaling N3.211 million as part of the Nigerian Food Security Scholarship Program. This initiative is designed to promote research-driven solutions to Nigeria's food security challenges.

The grants were presented during a ceremony attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, faculty members, and stakeholders. Ajibola Oladiipo, the Director of the Nigerian Food Security Project, emphasized the importance of aligning research with practical solutions to address food security issues.

The Dean, Professor Akeem Oyerinde, noted that this initiative is part of broader efforts to tackle food insecurity through research innovation. The selected students will conduct research projects under the guidance of faculty supervisors and will benefit from quarterly coaching and review sessions organized by the Nigerian Food Security Project.
