Abuja Charity Half Marathon Raises N12.4m for Healthcare

The Abuja Charity Half Marathon successfully raised N12.4 million for neonatal healthcare during its sixth edition. The funds will be used to procure critical newborn care equipment, including incubators and nebulizers, for two public hospitals in the Abaji and Kuje area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The event, organized by the RCA, aims to reinforce ongoing efforts to reduce infant mortality and improve healthcare delivery in underserved communities. Buchi Onyebul, president of RCA, noted a steady increase in participation, reflecting growing public confidence in the initiative's social impact.

The marathon expanded from roughly 100 to 250 runners in its first two editions to 1,000 participants this year, attracting fitness enthusiasts and philanthropists across Nigeria. Peju Lawanson, chairperson of the local organizing committee, emphasized the importance of promoting physical fitness and the club's mission to give back to society.

Toni Edeh, managing director of Norrenberg, the principal sponsor, reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting healthy living and social responsibility initiatives.
