AAC Demands Investigation into Journalist's Murder in Kano

The African Action Congress (AAC) condemned the killing of Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, a prominent Kano-based social media influencer, political commentator, and government critic, who was murdered at his residence in Gaida, Kumbotso local government area of Kano State. Haruna Garba Magashi, the vice presidential candidate of the AAC, stated that Dan Shagamu had previously raised alarms about threats to his life and had appealed to the Kano State Government and security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police, for protection.

Despite these warnings, he received no protection, leading to his death. Magashi criticized the government for its failure to act on credible concerns regarding Dan Shagamu's safety, questioning what preventive measures were taken.

The AAC called for a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder, emphasizing that it should not be dismissed as an ordinary criminal incident.
