ADC Condemns Force Against AAUA Students, Calls for Dialogue

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ondo State chapter, condemned the reported use of force against students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, during their protest on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, over prolonged academic disruptions. In a statement by Publicity Secretary Hon. Remi Ofakunrin, the ADC expressed concern about the confrontation between security personnel and students, urging Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to prioritize dialogue over confrontation.

The ADC criticized the deployment of armed security against the students, stating that grievances should be addressed through responsible leadership. The party emphasized that students are not enemies of the state and called for immediate de-escalation of the situation.

They questioned the government's failure to resolve the ongoing industrial crisis affecting the university, which has disrupted lectures and examinations. The ADC insisted that the government must engage with all stakeholders, including students and university management, to negotiate a sustainable resolution to the crisis.
