ADC Reaffirms Coalition Commitment Amid Leadership Crisis

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Public Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated that the party is not abandoning its coalition with the People Redemption Party, asserting that the coalition remains intact and the ADC is fully committed to ongoing political and legal engagements. This statement was released on Monday, following the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) announcement on April 1 regarding the removal of key ADC figures, including National Chairman David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola.

The INEC's action was explained as a move to comply with a court order to maintain the status quo pending the final ruling in a trial court. The ADC is currently entangled in a protracted leadership crisis that began with the inauguration of a new national working committee under Mark's leadership in July.

This dispute arose from disagreements over the tenure of former chairman Ralph Nwosu, whose exit deepened factional battles within the party, leading to multiple legal confrontations, including appeals to the Supreme Court.
