ADC Dismisses Trump's Letter as Non-Endorsement of Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, asserting that the correspondence does not constitute an endorsement of Tinubu or his administration.

In a statement issued by ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party criticized the Nigerian Presidency for misrepresenting the letter as a referendum on the nation's state. The ADC emphasized that diplomatic exchanges are routine and should not be interpreted as indicators of good governance.

They expressed concern over the administration's perceived desperation for international validation, arguing that a letter from a foreign leader cannot replace the judgment of Nigerian citizens. The ADC pointed out that the letter does not address the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, highlighting that many citizens continue to face insecurity.

They noted that the U.S. government's travel advisory on Nigeria remains unchanged, indicating ongoing risks related to crime and terrorism, despite the letter's release.
