Osun Governor Adeleke Launches Inquiry into Election Violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the formation of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged incidents of violence and unlawful activities reported prior to the last governorship election. During the inauguration in Osogbo, represented by State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Oluwole Jimi-Bada (SAN), Adeleke emphasized that the commission's purpose is not to witch-hunt any individual or political party but to ascertain the truth and determine responsibility based on credible evidence.

The commission will also recommend measures to enhance public peace and prevent future unlawful conduct. Adeleke stated that the commission was established in response to public concerns regarding violence, intimidation, and property destruction related to the election.

He affirmed the administration's commitment to justice, accountability, and the rule of law, urging the commission to investigate the causes of the incidents and review the roles of political actors and security agencies. The commission will accept memoranda from victims and residents affected by the electoral violence.
