Adeleke Campaign Seeks Police Protection for Accord Members

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has formally petitioned Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu for immediate protection of Accord Party members and supporters in light of alleged threatening comments made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi. The petition, submitted on Wednesday, references a video where Fadahunsi purportedly made inflammatory remarks, which he has since denied.

The Osun State Police Command has invited Fadahunsi to respond to these allegations. The council, through spokesman Pelumi Olajengbesi, expressed concerns that these comments could endanger the lives of Accord members, particularly in Ilesa and the Osun East Senatorial District.

They called for adequate police presence at polling units and collation centers to ensure a safe electoral process during the upcoming August 15 governorship election. The petition emphasizes that no Nigerian should fear for their safety based on political affiliation and urges the police to act impartially and decisively if the allegations are substantiated.
