Adeleke Calls for Visa Ban on Political Leaders Over Violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has requested the imposition of a visa ban on specific political leaders alleged to have aided and abetted political violence in the state as the August 15 governorship election approaches. During a meeting with a delegation from the British Government in Osogbo, Adeleke condemned the actions of these political figures, which he claims have resulted in killings and gun attacks across the state.

He praised security agencies for their efforts to curb violence and urged them to intensify their actions to arrest suspects linked to political unrest, regardless of their political affiliations. Adeleke reiterated his administration's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards political violence and stated that any political leader found to be promoting electoral violence should face international sanctions.

He also called for similar sanctions against security chiefs who support anti-democratic activities. The British delegation, led by senior political advisor Wale Adebajo, expressed their commitment to supporting peaceful and credible elections in Osun State.
